Ironclaw gave Riverfang a reassuring nod before waltzing up to the HillClan border, tasting the air for both the scent of HillClan and fox scent. He smelled neither. He pricked his ears a faint noise over the hills of the plains. Dark clouds were gathering behind IvyClan's territory, promising rain with them.
"Silentstar," he called, "there's rain coming. By sunset the scent will be washed away."
He looked away before his leader could answer and breathed in as deeply as he could. The fox scent was stronger when he turned his face to the wind downstream. He could've sworn a swish of a reed gave way to the quick emergence of russet fur and a piercing snout. Ironclaw froze and peered into the thick reeds, letting his paws carry him into the vegitation. He reached his head over the giant reeds and saw the sudden flash of a fox's tail dissapear into into the reeds and splash into the river. The fox's nimble paws made almost silent movement through the rushing waters.
Ironclaw rushed back to Silentstar and Riverfang, "There's definitely a fox on our territory! I saw it head down to the bank and start traveling down the river."

Silentstar scented the air, the fur on his back rising at the mixed scent if the coming rain and fox. He looked over ar Riverfang, "Go find the hunting the patrol, they shouldn't be that far away. Bring them here but keep them downwind of the fox. Than run as fast as your paws will carry you to the Hillclan camp, immediately and warn them that there may be a fox den on their territory."
He looked over at Ironclaw, "Come on, we'll follow the fox. Stay downwind and out of site."

Riverfang nodded to his leader and turned to find the hunting patrol. He silently scolded himself for not checking the rivers edge, if the fox had been in the stream and then jumped out, and back in, that would make for the random fox scent spot. He heard Silentstar's orders echoing in his head as he searched to find the hunting party, he paused and sniffed the air to get his barrings, and continued on running.
Frozendream's tail twitched back and fourth silently in the air as she was watching a small bird from under some tree roots. She heard a sound and she quickly shifted her head towards the rustles, suddenly her brother exploded from the bush with needles and leaves stuck to his fur, the bird quickly flew away before anything could happen and Riverfang landed on the ground muzzle first hind legs in the air. "Mousebrain! Don't you know you're supposed to be quiet in the forest!" She hissed giving her brother a stern glare as he tried to compose himself from his clumsy interference. "I," Riverfang began his breath short from the run he managed to spill out a few words in between huffs. "Trying to, fox den, hunting party." He panted. "What are you trying to say, spit it out!" Frozendream spat. Riverfang took in a deep breath and shook his fur. "I was with the boarder patrol, and we found a fox," Riverfang said a little slower and with less breaths in between his words, Frozendream didn't seem at all surprised by the news of the fox. "I came to get reinforcements." Riverfang said pulling a leaf out of his ruffled fur. "Where's everyone else?" He said looking around. "Well, they should be here soon enough, the noise you made coming through that thicket probably scared away the rest of the prey we have on this side of the territory." She grumbled looking away from her brother, obviously mad at him. "Well," Riverfang said. "Aren't you going to go get the others, that fox could be at the camp by now!" Frozendream let out a short breath and rolled her eyes. "Fine, but you owe the clan a robin."

Ironclaw quickly followed in Silentstar's steps, making barely a rustle as they trudged down the bank. His ears shot up as he heard a heavy pawstep in the reeds further inland, "Come on," he whispered softly, turning to Silentstar, "Should we wait until the hunting patrol get here to drive it off?"

Silentstar flicked his tail silently and flicked his ear, keeping his eyes locked on the fox as he whispered, "We'll follow it for now. If it leaes the territory, we'll head back and follow the scent to look for a den." He glanced back at Ironclaw, "We dont have much time, the rain is coming."

Ironclaw raised his head to spot the fox scavenging among the body of a dead deer, a rare sight here. The fox raised it's ears as Ironclaw broke a branch under his paws, "Mouse-brain!" he hissed to himself. The fox gave a snarl and Ironclaw revealed himself from the reeds. He dodged aside as the fox charged and snapped for his throat. Ironclaw rammed the fox nimbly in the side and sent it sprawling to the ground.

Silentstar hissed in frustration at the large crack of the stick.
He immediately bolted forward, skillfully on only 3 legs, and rammed his head into the foxes side, tearing at any fur his claws could reach. He let out a loud yowl in the process, hoping the hunting party was nearby and would hear.

"So, what are you standing around for!" Riverfang asked his sister, frustrated that she has just been sitting there giving him the evil eye for a few minutes. "Where's the rest of the hunting party, and why aren't we trying to find them?" Frozendream sat down and curled her fluffy tail around her paws. "I thought by the noise you made they'd all be here by now, but I guess we're just going to have to--" She stopped suddenly because they heard a yowl, more like a battle cry coming from where Riverfang had came from. Both the cats turned their heads towards the direction of the sound and then momentarily exchanged glances in a silent communication before bolting through the forest to help the cats in need.

Ironclaw glanced at Silentstar and gave a hiss, launching himself at the fox and grazing its tender muzzle. He chomped on to its legs and felt the skin crack under his teeth.

Silentstar jumped back and gave another yowl before throwing himiself at the foxes legs, nipping and biting wherever he could reach.

Frozendream and Riverfang came bursting through the bushes ready to help their clan mates battle the fox Riverfang paused a moment to assess the situation and then with a flick of his tail gave silent orders to his sister they both leaped for the fox, Riverfang jumped for the fox's Flank, swiped and then latched onto its back just below the tail Frozendream leaped for the neck and bit down hard as if the fox was prey. Riverfang hoped that with all these warriors attacking the fox it would turn tail and run.

Silentstar still held a grip on the foxes right hindleg, digging his teeth in and slashing with his claws. Suddenly, the fox veered left and kicked out its right leg, sending Silentstar flying into the trunk of a nearby tree, her head hitting it with a sickening crack before his body fell limp to the ground in a pool of blood.

Ironclaw called out to Silentstar as he lay limp under the tree although he knew his leader wouldn't hear him. He winced as the fox caught him in the muzzle and blew its hot breath in his face. He reared up and boxed the fox in the face before lowering himself against the ground and snatching the fox's leg in his teeth.

Silentstars body lay spasming under the tree for a few moments before his eyes flicked open. He stood up and shook himself, his eyes growing cold with anger as he glared at the fox. He gave a loud yowl of battle and raced back at the fox, clamping his jaws on the beasts neck and biting down as if it were a piece of prey.
